In every story there is always a beginning. As we are going to shift to a new building. We are expecting new things, new events, new breakthroughs and the new New in you.

But before we experience the new life, let's get back to our basic - The Bible.

Let me go through with you the days when God created life:-

Genesis 1
1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.

8And God called the firmament Heaven (skies). So the evening and the morning were the second day.

9 Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.

10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed
is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

13 So the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.

25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them,“Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Amen!

The earth was empty before creation.

The First Day God made light and separates it from Darkness - He called them day and night

The Second Day God made Heaven (skies)

The Third Day God made the Land - He named the land Earth and the waters Seas and he made plants on the Earth

The Fourth Day God made the Sun to rule over  the day, Moon and stars to rule over  the night.

The Fifth Day God made birds and sea creatures

The Sixth Day God Made the living creatures on Earth. Then God made man in His own image.

And the Seventh Day God rested and made the day Holy.

How are we to relate the day creation in the new life in Christ? Here I am to share with you the process of having new life in God's family.

Before we knew God, we were living in darkness.
Void and without form.
Empty and without any order/discipline.
But Holy Spirit is hovering upon us, waiting for the moment we open our heart to accept Christ.

1. Then once we accept Christ, God's light is created in us to separate us from the darkness - sin. His Light in us is called Holiness.

2. When we come to know God more, we know more about our purpose in life.
He created the "Firmament" in us.

Firmament is the expanse of the sky. In Science now, we have levels of the expanse of the skies - the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere and ionosphere then the space. Our Ozone layer is only at stratosphere.
After that expanse of the sky? What is it? That is beyond our human capabilities of knowledge and reach.

Therefore, I call this firmament that God created in us is our limits. We became wise to know what is good and what is bad by God's Holy Spirit. We know where our limits are. what is good for us, what is bad for us. God knows clearly what are our limits, and He did not make any situation so tough that we cannot handle.
He also gave us the trust that, by Faith we can handle whatever circumstances that we encounter through Christ who strengthens us. Amen?

3. Other than the limits, God lay the earth and plant seeds in us. Earth is always related to the foundation. Without a good foundation, a building cannot stand strong. when you sow into wrong foundations, your life will be destroyed. Normal layman always say, rubbish in, rubbish out. If you invest in wrong investments, you will loose out. What is the good foundation that I am talking here: in our new lives, we need the Word of God. Let us lay firm foundation of our New Life in Christ with the Word of God. amen?

4. Then God made the Sun and Moon and stars for Day and Night. Sun and Moon and the stars are always related to directions. Whenever you are lost in a dessert or in jungle, the Sun and the Moon and stars are always the point of reference to go to the right direction. God made clear directions for your new life. When you are lost, His directions in Life will point you to everlasting life.

5.  Fifth. And Sixth Day God starts to put details into his creation. Birds, earth and sea creatures. And in our new lives, God made us liveliness. Every details in us, it is God made. Every characters, God made them unique in us. Whether you can sing like a bird, swim like a fish, friendly like a dolphin, loyal like a dog...etc, God made us different characters. Most importantly, God made us in His image. God blessed all these details in our lives, and said we are to be fruitful and multiply and have dominion over every living things on earth. Be productive with the character we have in us.

6. Then comes the sabbath day. With God in our new lives, we are called to be holy and be acceptable unto God. Make ourselves a living sacrifice for God. New life in Christ is being able to deny our worldly self and live a holy life.

For without God, we are just void and without form. An empty soul.

Step up in faith, move forward and trust God creating you a new life as we step into the next season of life! Amen!

I am one of the volunteer for SWAT (Special Weekend Anniversary Team), and I was there on Saturday to help scrapping the wall of our new church's building. That was the first time ever I've been to the hall of our new church's building, and I can tell you, even though it's still not completely in place yet, but I can already feel the atmosphere and the presence of God there.

The place is so huge and spacious if compare to the building that we are using now. The stage is 10 times bigger, the lights, the place to sit... I was standing there imagining the day when the hall is filled with people who came to praise and worship God. It's going to be magnificent, and its going to be the day I am looking forward to.

It reminds me of a video of pastor Kong's vision of church as big as a stadium, and it was filled with God loving people. Imagine when pastor says, "Let's give God a great shout", you can hear thunder of roars made by the congregation. Everyone was shouting and clapping their hands for God. Doing the Mexican wave and chanting the name of Jesus, shouting Hallelujah....

When we sing, it was just so unison, we are ultimately the biggest choir in the world. Heaven just open up, and the presence of God pour down ever so strongly upon each and everyone of us. It was indeed the most greatest experience ever. Every week we can see hundreds and thousands of people being saved during service. Angels cheering and heaven rejoice, more and more soul are being saved, more and more passionate and God loving people are added to the house of God.

I was in awe with my own imagination, but ultimately it is a vision that will come to pass one day. I am super excited for the new building! I can't wait for our first service there at the end of July 2011. It's going to be awesome! Its going to be magnificent! Its going to be mind blowing and life changing! It's going to be another new and exciting journey with City Harvest Church KL, and its a privilege to be able to be apart of it.

Last month, I had a very unique cell group meeting where every member of the cellgroup had to share a short sermon from a verse in Proverbs.

Mine was Proverbs 11:19 "The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered."

Anyway, the verse speaks of how hypocrisy destroys. And I realize that the hypocrisy of Christians is often what repels unbelievers from looking towards the Christian faith. When it comes to not choosing the Christian faith, there are many reasons. But there are many answers from Christianity too. Another belief? Christianity (and in general, most religions) have similar moral values, and makes much moral sense. Doubts? Christian apologetics is an intellectual field of Christianity that uses science, history, archeology and much more to show how logical and reliable Christianity has been since its existence.

But when unbelievers say that Christians are hypocrites, we don't really have much to argue. We can say that it's not the true Christians who are hypocrites, but at some point or another, big or small, we've all been hypocrites. And you'd be shocked at how much this hypocrisy affects people. I'll be sharing about 3 groups of people that were severely affected by Christian hypocrisy, and the results that followed.

1) Christians
Picture
The first point, Christians have been deeply affected by hypocrisy of other Christians. Young believers observing their leaders being hypocrites affects their faith, and possibly change their trust of Christianity. Back during The Crusades, specifically the Fourth Crusade in 1202, Western Christians massacred Eastern Christians.

In fact, the cause of the Crusades was a response to the Muslim invasion of Israel in the 7th century. However, when the Muslims took over the Holy Land, Christians were initially treated better by the Muslims than by their own Christian feudal lords. Many converted to Muslims, partially because of lower taxes, but also because they were treated better by their invaders compared to their religious kinsmen.
Thousands of followers were lost through simple hypocrisy.

2) Mohandas Gandhi
Picture
Gandhi is known for being one of the greatest promoters of peace in the world. Through his non-violent acts, India gained independence, and inspired similar pacifists around the world. He was a Hindu.

Mahatma Gandhi is perhaps the best example of someone who was discerning enough to reject Christianity not Christ. He was deeply hurt by his experiences with apartheid and “Christians” during his time in South Africa, and it obviously stymied his relationship with Christ.

One thing Gandhi said was "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Coming from him, that holds a lot of weight.

What if he had become a Christian? His life and experience would be a great example to show what Christianity offered, and in turn, potentially save people by. But no, despite all the morality Christianity offers, Gandhi, who is claimed by many to be one of the greatest men to have lived and more virtuous than most Christians, was a Hindu, and Hindus can hold him as an example of a great Hindu.

Through simple hypocrisy, one of the greatest men was lost, and millions of Hindus can now lay claim to him.

3) Satanists
Picture
Ironic? For a bit of background info, there's generally 2 forms of Satanism. Theistic Satanism is the belief in Satan as an actual deity. Laveyan Satanism rejects a belief in all supernatural powers, but uses the name of Satanism as all its beliefs are basically an antithesis to Christianity.

The Satanism most of us know was formed by Anton Lavey. He was an organ player in a circus/carnival. Every week, he would see Christian men paying and enjoying the strip shows, then going to church the next day, repenting. The following week, the cycle would repeat. He was so disgusted, that he eventually came to believe the Christian church strives on hypocrisy. Later on, he even formulated his own religion, Laveyan Satanism. Sad isn't it? To know that hypocrisy led to the creation of an entire religion.

His belief is made very clear in the last of the 9 Satanic Statements (as an opposite to the Ten Commandments) "Satan has been the best friend the church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!"

It's a funny statement, but its the conclusion of a man who saw Christian hypocrisy, and created an entire religion to be opposite to Christianity. There are millions of Satanists around the world. Potential souls for Christ.

But let's not forget the last part of the Bible verse.

Proverbs 11:19 "The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered."

Knowledge will deliver the righteous. We need to know how to apply the knowledge of the word of God properly, attractively and lovingly. In the gospels, Jesus taught about many things, and but one thing He always blasted strongly was hypocrisy. For us, while people may not condemn us for our hypocrisy, they will observe us, and it will affect how they look at Christianity.

No one is perfect, and we never will be while we're here, but no one said we couldn't aim for that standard. Aren't we supposed to be trying to be more like Jesus?

Would you? Lets be humble to take his nails.
Samuel Lee

The Church is more than just a building.

1. Church is a fellowship where a small group meets.

ACts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles's doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in prayers.

- top priority in a fellowship is unity and harmony
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with on another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son Cleanses us from all sin.

Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking  the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the ore as you see the Day approaching.

2. Church is a family with sense of belonging.
Ephesians 2:19 so Now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. you are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family.

3. church is a body for service.
1 Corinthians 12:37 now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

- we function on the basis of spiritual gifts, not positions.

4. church is a flock as we submit to each other.

1 peter 5:1-2 The elders who are among you i exhort, i who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is amond you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;

- 3 kinds of leaders:
[a] poimen -shepherd(pastor, cg leaders)
[b] presbuteros -elder(spiritual maturity)
[c] episkopos -bishop(overseer),Management duty, committee

5. Church is an Army as we win against spiritual warfare.
2 timothy 2:1-4 you therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus . And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
you therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

- The main purpose of the church is to reach out to the lost and bring them into the church.
Matthew 16:18 and i also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

6. Church is God's house where the supernatural is experienced
- life touched, healed, transformed and changed for the better.

coming to church is all about empowerment and revival in spirit, soul and body.

Where are we in the church body?
1. community
2. Crowd
3. Congregation
4. Committed
5. Core
